Steering wheel audio control buttons?

hi everyone, i just bought a chevrolet impala LS 2001. and it got some buttons on the steering wheel for audio control and cruise control .. after i bought it (used of course) i noticed that the audio control aren't working.. then i when i pressed hard on it.. it worked .. but not all the time.. i thought it would be just some dust i tried to clean it with some pressurised air.. it worked but with confusion.. when i want to raise the volume it changes the channel. and vice versa.. so anyway after some time the whole audio control buttons on the steering wheel stopped working.... however the cruise control still working fine without any problems.. what might be the problem??? and where should i fix it!!?? and how much should i expect to spend on fixing that!?? any advice will be great!

Agree with above....................check with local mechanic, could be a few fuse problems r wires not connected or connected wrong..Getting into the wiring can runs some major bucks, but a reliable mechanic with the right tools can find the spot. Dealers tend to be higher so look locally for mechinic.Steering wheel audio control buttons?
is the reciever (cd player) stock?

if yes, your problem is probably in the switches on the steering wheel. replacing those are not complicated, but proably requires removing the air bag.

try this: go to an impala forum and ask there. there may be a simpler solution. wires dont just come disconected...

if that is the problem, and you do the work yourself, i would assume no more than $100 for the switches. if you do decide to do the work yourself, use caution with the air bag.... is it even worth the risk????
go to the nearest vehicle electrition and get an estmate then u deside if u want to spend the money
