Why do we push the buttons harder on the remote control when we know the batteries are dying? ?

Subconsciously, we know that each time a remote button is pushed, the battery's life is shortened. But since the darn remote seems to work every time, we may think that the button is not making full contact with whatever it is under it so we compensate by a harder push. Also, by pushing it a little harder and longer, maybe, just maybe we can coax a little more juice out of them to send the signal out this time, and hopefully, one or possibly more times after that. I think this has to do with 'getting your money's worth'.Why do we push the buttons harder on the remote control when we know the batteries are dying? ?

It's the same with your question, we keep pressing the buttons for the hope that maybe it's not the battery but the remote instead!


Either that or you're just too lazy to replace new batteries, lol.
