Why to DVD remote controls have an ';Eject'; button?

This is just a random curiosity of mine, but I would really like to know why manufacturers put an 'eject' button on remote controls. Seems like such a useless extra, when you have to actually walk over to the DVD player to take out the DVD anyway. Does anyone have an answer for this? Just curious! Why to DVD remote controls have an ';Eject'; button?
Because otherwise someone would complain that it didnt have one. I always thought this was wierd, too. It would seem dangerous to eject the DVD before you get to take it out, because someone could step on the open DVD drawerWhy to DVD remote controls have an ';Eject'; button?
My old VCR remote had an eject button too.
cuz when you get up, walk to the player, and hit the eject it takes a few seconds for the tray to come out.

SO when you hit eject before getting up you can save those couple seconds....

:DDDDDDDDD 2 points.
in case the manual eject button doesnt work.
