How do I work the cruise control on my 1998 Ford Escort ZX2? What buttons do I push?

I bought the car used with no manual. I'm guessing it just does not work, but maybe I'm just not pressing the correct button combination? Anyone know? How do I work the cruise control on my 1998 Ford Escort ZX2? What buttons do I push?
First let me get you that owners manual !

The digital download (FREE courtesy of Ford's website) is in pdf format so you can easily save it to your computer and/or print it for future reference.

Voila! Instant manual!

Now flip to pages 28-33 for the complete directions on how to ';use the cruise';... (Ford calls it ';Speed Control)

OR I could just copy the text from those pages for you...

虏 Press ON.

Vehicle speed cannot be controlled

until the vehicle is traveling at or

above 48 km/h (30 mph).

If your vehicle slows down more

You can accelerate with the

accelerator pedal at any time

during speed control usage.

Releasing the accelerator pedal will

return your vehicle to the

previously programmed set speed.

Release the control when the

desired speed is reached or

虏 Press and release CST/COAST.

Each press will decrease the set

speed by 1.6 km/h (1 mph) or

虏 Depress the brake pedal. When

the desired vehicle speed is

reached, press SET ACC/SET

ACCEL

To disengage speed control

虏 Depress the brake pedal or

虏 Depress the clutch pedal (if

equipped)

Disengaging the speed control will

not erase the previously

programmed set speed

Pressing OFF will erase the

previously programmed set speed.

To return to a previously set

speed

虏 Press RES/RSM/RESUME. For

RES/RSM/RESUME to operate,

the vehicle speed must be faster
